How long does myofunctional therapy take?

Most people complete myofunctional therapy in 3 to 6 months, depending on age, goals, and how consistently exercises are done at home. Sessions are usually scheduled every one to two weeks. The exercises themselves take only a few minutes per day, but steady practice is important because therapy works by building muscle memory.

Some clients progress quickly, especially if their concerns are mild. Others, particularly those with complex habits or airway challenges, may need a longer program. Children may need more time if they are still developing new skills, while adults may progress faster because they can complete exercises independently.

The goal is long-term improvement, not quick fixes. When muscles learn new habits and those habits are reinforced daily, the results are lasting.
